About
Thomas Blak, MSW, RSW
I have spent most of my career working in Mental Health. For 17 years I worked at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Concurrent Disorders—DBT Clinic and the Law and Mental Health Program—Clinical Sexology. During my time at CAMH I was co-author of 18 peer-reviewed journal articles. I left CAMH to start a new career in Social Work where I could use my skills to better serve the communities I was interested in.
My work then took me to the Solicitor General’s Office to work at Vanier Correctional Institute for Women. Here I provided social work services to inmates. Working at Vanier with the women has been the highlight of my career.
The pandemic has changed the dynamic of how services are provided, and I have opened this practice to continue to help women and men with their problems.
Currently, I have two degrees, a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Toronto specializing in gender inequality and family dynamics. My second degree is a Master of Social Work from the University of Windsor. I am registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
