Individual Counselling

Life is full of challenges. We get through most of these challenges unscathed but others not so much. This can lead to repetitive behaviours that are not in your best interest, yet we do them because they feel comfortable, not knowing there are other solutions. Many times, the problem is so big, you just don’t know how to move forward, and you are looking for guidance. Relationship breakdowns are common and for many this can be overwhelming. Big changes such as having a child, loss of a job, child leaving home, there are so many challenges. It is here we discuss these challenges and come up with solutions that best fit you. There is not a one size fits all solution. The common goal between client and the therapist is to find something that works for the client, this is a collaborative effort. Other times you just may want to vent in a safe place, and it is here you can do that. Time to move forward.

Twins Relationships

Some twins experience problems because of the very nature of being a twin. Twins may have problems with their other twin, other siblings, parents, and society. Being stared at, being compared, and having a loss of identity are many of the problems that exist in the twin world. In therapy, you can vent, explore your place in this unique world and if need be, create strategies to help you move forward. Parents and siblings of twins are also welcome to discuss how the twin relationships affect them. The last twinless twin is something that I have experienced personally and have some insight into. Your story is going to be different than my story, but it is a story to be told. If you experience twin issues on any level and want to understand the dynamics of this relationship, please contact my office for an appointment.

Incarceration

Incarceration can be a stressful situation but with some guidance and insight into the process, it will make your life in a correctional institute bearable. Typically, this involves someone who is going to be sentenced for DUI or someone out on bail. Parents that have adult children who are incarcerated are often left in the dark about what is happening to their child. Here we can discuss the process and give you information to help navigate the system. Typically, I do not see children but do make an exception for those who have a parent who is incarcerated. I help them understand on their level what is happening and explore their feelings around this stressful situation.
